E. Conservatoires as Innovators and Audience Developers

To share examples of innovative approaches to genre diversification, contemporary orientation and cultural stimulation that have been implemented by European conservatoires, and to encourage wider take-up of these approaches

Objectives

With this strand of the FULL SCORE project, the AEC focusses on sharing and encouraging innovative approaches to genre diversification, contemporary orientation and cultural stimulation that have been implemented by European conservatoires. In the context of this strand, the AEC intends to establish a 3-year planned sequence of Pop and Jazz Platform (PJP) meetings, and elaborate on these themes in a connected and cumulative way.

Activities

  • Organizing three consecutives AEC Pop and Jazz Platform Meetings on the theme “The Audience Re-Engaged”, which took place in Valencia 2015, Rotterdam 2016 and London 2017;
  •  Producting three “Bulletins” including the reflections carried during the Pop and Jazz Platform Meetings
  • Producting a 3-years strategy called ‘Conservatoires as Innovators and Audience Developers: The Audience [Re-] engaged.’ aimed at giving direction to the 3 years exploration of the Pop and Jazz Platform into the topic of audience engagement;
  • Developing of an intense cooperation with the European Jazz Network (EJN) and the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) in order to strengthen the link between the education and the profession. A memorandum of cooperation has been signed with the European Jazz Network (EJN) and the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) to stimulate synergies;
  • Producting a new Statment of Purpose of the Pop and Jazz Platform;
  • Producting a new strategy for the Pop and Jazz Platform including structured coopertation with EJN and IASJ

Outcomes

Expected Sustainability

  • Implementation of the new strategy and new Statement of Purpose of the Pop and Jazz Platform
  • Continued and enhanced cooperation with EJN and new established cooperation with WOMEX (World Music Expo) in the field of World Music
