University Professorship (f/m/d) for Aesthetics of Performing Arts with focus on Music Aesthetics

YOUR DUTIES
• Responsible representation and promotion of the subject area in research and teaching
• Teaching particularly in courses of the main curricula for which a venia docendi is required: Musicology (BA, MA) and the doctoral program (PhD) as well as instrumental and vocal studies (BA and MA)
• Design and management of research projects, as well as acquisition of research grants
• Supervision of theses (BA, MA, PhD, Dr. art.)
• Active participation in developing further the university’s teaching environment as well as its artistic and scholarly life
• Active participation in shaping the academic autonomy of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz
• Fulfilment of organisational, administrative and evaluation duties
• Building and maintaining local, regional, national and international networks
YOUR PROFILE
• A degree at doctoral level from an Austrian or international institution in Musicology and/or Philosophy
• Habilitation or a qualification equal to the Habilitation in Musicology or Philosophy
• Comprehensive knowledge (historical and systematic) in Aesthetics of Performing Arts, especially Music Aesthetics
• Outstanding international scholarly reputation
• Excellent pedagogical and didactic proficiency in university teaching
• Substantial publications in the field of Aesthetics of Performing Arts, especially Music Aesthetics
• Sensitivity in dealing with gender, diversity and sustainability
• If German is not the applicant’s native language, a willingness to learn German with the aim of reaching at least level B2 within a fixed period of time is assumed.
• Experience in communicating about research and the field beyond the academy (community outreach)

CONTRACT
• Contract according to § 98 of the Universities Act
• Unlimited employment contract in accordance with § 25 of the collective bargaining Agreement for University Staff
• Employment level: full-time employment
• Salary: The collective agreement specifies a minimum monthly gross salary (A1 job group), currently € 6,713.30 (14 x annually); a higher salary may be negotiated.
