YOUR DUTIES

• Responsible representation and promotion of Ethnomusicology in research and teaching, in both its breadth and depth (several different culture areas and/or theoretical approaches preferred).

• Teaching particularly in courses of the main curricula for which a venia docendi is required: Musicology curriculum and Doctoral School PhD curriculum

• Development and leadership of externally/third-party funded research projects and concomitant support for early-career researchers

• Supervision of theses (BA, MA, PhD, Dr.art.)

• Engagement with and strong knowledge of current and evolving research trends in ethnomusicology

• Active participation in the further development of the university’s teaching environment and its artistic and scholarly life, as well as helping shape the academic profile and reputation of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz

• Participation in organisational, administrative and evaluation duties

YOUR PROFILE

• A degree at the doctoral level from an Austrian or international institution relevant to the position

• Habilitation or a qualification equal to the Habilitation in the subject area

• Outstanding international scholarly reputation

• Pedagogical and didactic aptitude for university teaching at an excellent level

• International, sustained, hiqh-quality publications (including at least one monograph or equivalent)

• Willingness to help shape and supervise interdisciplinary projects in teaching and research

• Ability to teach a musical ensemble as a musical practicum and as a musical engagement/teaching format for public outreach

• Sensitivity in dealing with gender, diversity and sustainability

• If German is not the applicant’s native language, a willingness to learn German with the aim of reaching at least level B2 within a fixed period of time is assumed

• Experience in communicating about research and the field beyond the academy (community outreach)

Contract

• Contract according to Section § 98 of the Universities Act

• Unlimited employment contract in accordance with Section § 25 of the collective bargaining Agreement for University Staff

• Employment level: full-time employment

• Salary: The collective agreement specifies a minimum monthly gross salary (A1 job group), currently € 6,713.30 (14x annually); a higher salary may be negotiated.
