The following position is available at the Institute for Keyboard Instruments (TAS) starting March 1, 2027:


University professorship for piano (f/m/d)
40 hours per week, equivalent to 22 teaching hours (100% full-time employment)

Your duties

  • You will lead a piano class at the Institute for Keyboard Instruments, in which you will supervise your own students in the central artistic subject and in the artistic major subject in the artistic and artistic-pedagogical bachelor's and master's programs, and, if applicable, chamber music ensembles.
  • You will be responsible for the further development of the subject in line with changing practical requirements and will represent this subject internally and externally in terms of expertise and in artistic collaborations and active networking in the field.
  • You will be required to participate in academic self-administration.

Employment requirements

  • Outstanding artistic and artistic-pedagogical qualifications
  • Outstanding artistic achievements in the context of international concert activities that contribute to the development and advancement of the arts and stand up to international comparison
  • Several years of university or comparable teaching experience
  • A completed domestic or equivalent foreign university education appropriate to the position

  • German language skills (at least C1) must be demonstrated within one year

Your opportunities and prospects

  • Working hours: 40 hours per week (100% full-time), including 22 teaching hours.
  • The minimum gross salary based on 40 hours per week or 22 teaching hours per week is at least €6,587.90 per month. The position is classified in salary group A. (corresponding to function career LD 6 of the Upper Austrian Salary Act 2001).
