General Information

The Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg (Nuremberg University of Music) is the most recently established institution in Germany to offer an academic musical training, but it can look back on a long and firmly-rooted tradition.

The third State University of Music in Bavaria was inaugurated in Nuremberg in 2008. It was created from the Meistersinger-Konservatorium and the communal University of Music Nuremberg-Augsburg. Around 400 students are now trained here in the basic areas of study – musical performance and music education – in the heart of the metropolitan region of Nuremberg.

Courses are offered in all the orchestra instruments, but also in singing, piano, organ, guitar, accordion and classical saxophone. There is also a lively jazz department, which is thoroughly integrated in the clubs of the city, and a department of early music, which regularly attracts unusual events to Nuremberg, thanks to its links throughout Europe.
