The AEC Congress and General Assembly 2019 will take place from 7 to 9 November at the Conservatorio di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi” in Turin under the title “Re-imagining Success? AEC – Strengthening Music in Society”.

The main theme suggested by the Congress title will be addressed by the keynote speaker Alfons Karabuda, composer and newly-appointed President of the International Music Council (IMC), as well as President of European Composer and Songwriter Alliance (ECSA) and expert in the field of artistic rights to the UN Human Rights Council. The topic will be broaden up with a reflection about the role of music in society by a panel composed of representatives of the music education sector and music profession, chaired by Helena Gaunt, Principal of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, who will moderate a discussion on priorities and actions to strengthen music in society with particular attention to audience engagement.

Digitisation, entrepreneuship, early childhood music education, power relations, internationalisation, quality enhancement, artistic research, cultural management, student representation and well-being of musicians are only some of the various topics that will be addressed by the rich range of parallel sessions, discussion groups and workshops offered before and during the event.

The AEC General Assembly on Saturday 9 November will feature elections for the partial renewal of the AEC Council and Executive Committee, as well as important discussions on the AEC language and sustainability policies.
