The AEC Digitisation Working Group is launching a Digital Transformation Stakeholder Network to create a space for learning, exchange and mutual support around the ongoing digital transformation of the Higher Music Education sector.

The network is open to everyone with an interest in following and contributing to digital developments in Higher Music Education, including participants from outside the AEC membership. This may include teaching staff, administrative staff, institutional leaders, researchers, students, IT and digital learning specialists, and others working with or interested in digital transformation.

Through online meetings, the network will discuss:

  • Current opportunities and challenges related to digital transformation in Higher Music Education Institutions.
  • Good practices from peers that can be adopted, adapted and implemented across institutions.
  • The role of digital tools in learning, teaching, artistic practice, research, administration, communication and international collaboration.
  • Strategic approaches to digitalisation at institutional and sectoral level.
  • Ethical, inclusive and sustainable approaches to digital transformation, including questions related to accessibility, data, AI, digital wellbeing and digital sustainability.

Individuals joining the network will also have the opportunity to:

  • Exchange experiences with colleagues facing similar digital opportunities and challenges.
  • Use the network as a support group to discuss practical questions, institutional barriers and possible solutions.
  • Contribute to the further development of AEC’s work on digitisation and digital transformation.
  • Help identify common needs across the sector, including training needs, policy questions and areas where shared guidance would be useful.
  • Share examples of digital tools, platforms, workflows and methodologies used in learning, teaching, artistic research, performance, international collaboration and administration.
  • Explore the implications of AI and emerging technologies for Higher Music Education.
  • Contribute, where feasible, to the development of recommendations, toolkits or other resources for the Higher Music Education sector.
  • Help strengthen connections between institutional digital strategies and wider European developments in education, culture and research.

The individuals joining the network may help determine the core topics according to their specific interests, institutional contexts and areas of expertise.

The network will meet online two to three times a year, starting in the autumn.

We warmly encourage AEC members to invite colleagues who are working with, responsible for, or interested in digital transformation to join the network.
