On 29 April 2026, the inaugural meeting of the AEC Network for Environmental Sustainability Officers (Green Officers) took place online.
Participants from 12 AEC member institutions took part in the meeting, with a shared interest in strengthening their knowledge of environmentally friendly practices and exchanging their institutional sustainability journeys.
The network is designed to foster the exchange of expertise, peer learning, and collaboration among participants committed to advancing sustainability in higher music education.
During the meeting, participants discussed the format of future webinars, communication channels, and topics for upcoming sessions, as well as preparations for the next meeting planned for June 2026.
Through three online meetings per year, the network will address key challenges faced by Green Officers and related staff in their daily work, while also sharing best practices that can be adapted and implemented across institutions. Participants will have the opportunity to review and discuss the “Play Green! Recommendations for Green Transition in HME,” use the network as a peer support group to reflect on operational challenges and solutions, and explore the implications and opportunities of digital sustainability, as well as to shape green sessions at the AEC events.
The network is also planning to organise a discussion group on green travel during the AEC International Relations Coordinators 2026 meeting.
