The AEC is pleased to invite its members to explore IncluMusic, a free, self-paced online training course designed specifically for teachers, tutors, lecturers, and administrative staff working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and neurodivergent profiles in Higher Music Education (HME).
Co-funded by the European Union, IncluMusic has been developed in collaboration with partners from Romania, Italy, Ireland, Cyprus, and the AEC itself. The course comprises six practical modules, each crafted to promote more inclusive and accessible learning environments within HME institutions:
- Disability studies and special pedagogies
- Special music methodologies and assistive technologies
- Legal and ethical principles of inclusion
- Mindfulness and inclusive music teaching
- Music therapy, music and health
- Inclusive music education and community music
Participants can select a learning pathway tailored to their professional role, whether as a teacher, administrative staff member, or academic tutor. The academic tutor pathway offers the most comprehensive experience, providing access to all available course content. This new professional role is intended to support and monitor social inclusion practices within HME institutions, as well as the training of teaching and administrative staff. Academic tutors act as intermediaries between staff and students with disabilities, helping to foster more inclusive learning environments.
We are currently in the external testing phase and warmly encourage all AEC members to take part. Your engagement and feedback will play a crucial role in refining the course ahead of its full release later this year. Getting started is easy: simply complete the self-registration process on our Moodle platform to receive your login credentials. You may begin the course at any time and progress entirely at your own pace.
