The first year of the AEC-SMS project Strengthening Music in Society is coming to an end. AEC and the different working groups (WGs) can look back on a fruitful year and some of the results were already presented at the AEC Annual Congress in Graz. AEC would like to keep its community involved and updated on the progress of the project through these events and updates, and to share the publications and workshops that the working groups are developing.
The Diversity WG is asking AEC members to contribute to its publication, which will be presented at the PJP Platform in February in 2019. The Student WG is asking AEC members to be in touch about student representation in their institution.
The Learning and Teaching WG has already published some very interesting material on the new online platform LATIMPE. On 24-26 October the Learning and Teaching WG also organised an offline Learning and Teaching platform and event focused on Student-centred learning.

Next to this new event, the AEC-SMS project is present in almost all other AEC events. The IRCs Meeting of last September was centred on the internationalization of curriculum and the AEC Annual Congress in Graz revolved around the project itself. During these events, AEC members and participants had a chance to meet with members of the Working Groups and with our external evaluator, Dame Janet Ritterman.
If you haven’t had a chance to hear about or to contribute to the project, there will be plenty of opportunities during 2019. In February, the Diversity WG and the Learning and Teaching WG will contribute to the Pop and Jazz Platform in Trondheim. Again, the IRCs Meeting and Annual Congress are centred around themes addressed in the project! The working groups Entrepreneurship and Digitisation will both work towards a publication which will be available to the AEC community in due time.
Please follow the developments of the project on AEC Website and on our social media channels.
