AEC advocates for its members’ institutions also by joining forces with partner organisations.

It is important for our association to invest our time and efforts into ensuring mutual support and the creation of synergies when organising events and launching policy campaigns.

This month we get to hear from the close representatives of the European cultural and educational sector who wish the AEC a happy anniversary!

CAE – Culture Action Europe

“AEC is a long-standing member of Culture Action Europe and active in our Executive Committee. Our active collaboration is based on a shared vision of the value and values of culture in building democratic, pluralistic and open societies. AEC has always been there to support Culture Action Europe’s pan-European advocacy actions and campaigns to put culture at the heart of public debate and decision-making. We highly value AEC´s expertise and contribution when it comes to music education across Europe and the care for future generations of artists. We keep developing new, exciting initiatives together and look forward to more years to come! Congratulations!”

EMU – European Music School Union

„The Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) has been one of the most important cooperation partners for the European Music School Union for numerous years. When considering that students in music schools move on to become students in higher music education institutions and students in higher music education institutions move on to become teachers in music schools, joint action becomes a matter of course. Collaboration takes place on all levels from cultural policies to joint working groups, from advocacy and lobbying to common events – all of these based on a shared understanding of the importance of cultural education for the advancement of the European societies, on humanistic values and the ideals expressed in the five music rights of the International Music Council. We wish the AEC all the best for the future and a continuation of the success story that has been going for 70 years now. Happy birthday AEC!”

EAS – European Association for Music in Schools

“The European Association for Music in Schools (EAS) warmly congratulates its partner organisation, AEC, on 70 years of their great work!

AEC and EAS have had a long-standing and extraordinarily fruitful collaboration. Together with EMU, we have been working together for many years for the benefit of European-wide music education. Whether in joint projects such as meNet, SMS, ARTEMIS AEC – Empowering Artists as Makers in Society or TEAM – in which we build bridges between current issues concerning music in schools and musical-artistic higher education – or in joint educational policy campaigns, EAS and AEC speak with one voice.”

We look forward to these gathered forces continuing together into the future! There is a lot to do in the cultural sector, which is threatened by cuts. Together we will work together to effect positive change – by being imaginative and communicating closely with politicians and within our strong association networks.

EMC – European Music Council

“Congratulations to 70 years of AEC – 70 years of constant commitment for higher music education! The European Music Council (EMC) highly appreciates our long-standing collaboration with the AEC. The AEC and its members have greatly contributed to the work and the strategic development of the EMC, e.g. AEC was vital in the EFMET project (European Forum for Music Education and Training) that set the cornerstone of the EMC’s continuous engagement for music education at all levels and that kick-started the EMC’s involvement with cultural policy at EU level. We look forward to continuing and extending this successful collaboration in the 70 years to come.”

Ruth Jakobi and Simone Dudt, Secretaries General European Music Council (EMC)

EUA – European University Association

“On behalf of the European University Association (EUA), I would like to congratulate you on your 70th anniversary. This is a remarkable milestone for your organisation, which has been a leading voice for higher music education in Europe and beyond.

Your active, Europe-wide network of around 300 member institutions for professional music training in 57 countries is a testimony to your vision and dedication to fostering excellence, diversity and innovation in music education.

In this regard, you have been a key partner for EUA in promoting the Bologna Process and influencing EU policies on higher education, research and innovation. Your support and contribution have allowed us to include the voices and views of music schools into major surveys on the state of European higher education. Collegial exchanges with you and your active participation at EUA events and Thematic Peer Learning Groups have enriched and diversified our joint reflections on the future of learning and teaching.

We wish you all the best for your anniversary celebrations and look forward to our future cooperation.”

Amanda Crowfoot, Secretary General, EUA

ELIA – European League of Institutes of the Arts

“Dear colleagues at the AEC,

On behalf of everyone at ELIA, I congratulate you on your 70th anniversary! ELIA has been a proud sister association and partner of the AEC for many, many years. Throughout your history, the AEC has played a pivotal role in connecting Higher Music Education institutions for collaboration and exchange. We look back to numerous joint actions with the AEC, advocating for Higher Arts Education across Europe and beyond. ELIA and AEC share many values and we feel fortunate to have found so many ways to work together on events and projects addressing both of our member communities, as well as connecting our governing bodies in joint consultation. Thank you for being such good colleagues – we look forward to many more years together with you.

With all good wishes, also on behalf of the ELIA Representative Board and the ELIA Team.”

Maria Hansen, Executive Director
