The HarMA Week for HarMA HUB project partners’ staff took place April 21st- 25th, 2026, at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn, Estonia. This training week is designed for music theory teachers of the partner institutions to demonstrate and share innovative teaching methods and practices, to enhance the quality of music theory education in European higher music institutions.

Throughout the five-day program, leading experts in the field presented the most innovative techniques for teaching music theory. Each lecture was followed by seminars where participants would apply the knowledge they had acquired in practice.

The training week emphasised ear training and the analysis of musical form, while integrating other core areas of music theory such as harmony and counterpoint. It also highlighted the effective use of digital tools for teaching these concepts. An integrated approach prevailed in the discussions, with practices from one area, such as solfeggio and ear training, being applied to another, such as the analysis of musical form, in order to yield more insightful results.

The skills acquired at the training could help the participants to engage with both established and innovative approaches and seek to bridge academic research and pedagogical practice.

The methods introduced during the training week will be published as academic studies on the HarMA HUB website.

The HarMA HUB intensive week for teachers marked the last HarMA HUB event.

HarMA HUB TNP meeting

On April 20, the HarMA HUB project partners came together to conclude all the work carried out during the project period and to address the remaining tasks and final deadlines. The partners emphasised that almost all requirements have already been met and the remaining ones will be addressed shortly.

The partners also discussed the requirements for the upcoming final report and the division of related responsibilities. The sustainability of the project and the HarMA events after the project period were a central point of discussion.

As the coordinator for communication and dissemination, the AEC presented the project’s impact at both European and international levels, along with the outcomes of dissemination activities carried out to date. HarMA HUB has been regularly featured in AEC newsletter items and social media posts, greatly increasing its reach among AEC members. The AEC also presented the final version of the Communication and Dissemination Strategy document for the HarMA HUB project.

ABOUT HarMA HUB

HarMA HUB is a three-year cooperation partnership project funded by the European Union and coordinated by the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. The project, targeting teachers, students and researchers in music theory, will build up on the outcomes developed within the first edition (HarMA+, 2020-2023) by gathering music theory resources in an online open platform, fostering research and pedagogical innovation, and striving for a certain level of harmonisation of the academic offer at European level.
