The International Master in Composition for Screen (InMICS) is a two-year joint master’s degree programme co-organised by 4 higher education institutions in Europe and Canada that are members of AEC:
• CNSMD de Lyon (France)
• Conservatorio di Musica Giovan Battista Martini di Bologna (Italy)
• School of Arts Ghent / KASK & Conservatorium (HOGENT) in Ghent (Belgium)
• Université de Montréal's Faculty of Music (Canada).
InMICS is a Master programme developed to teach students how to manage the entire process of music creation for audiovisual media, from composing and recording the music to finding the right words to talk about visual art, as well as mixing the music and promoting their own work.
What makes this programme unique is its international dimension, entailing a great diversity of aesthetics, cultures and teaching methods, the sharing of optimal practices and , the exploration of innovative practices and tools and the contact with the professsional world.
InMICS has been developed thanks to the support of the following professional organisations:
• Festival International du Film d’Aubagne – Music & Cinema (France)
• Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna (Italy)
• Film Fest Gent (Belgium)
• Permission Inc., Montréal (Canada)
• Krakow Film Music Festival (Poland)
Students benefit from the expertise of different academic partners, plus the professional organisations, and can consequently exchange ideas and experiences on an international level. The programme welcomes applications from anyone who already composes music for screen. A Bachelor’s degree in music or the equivalent is required.
Applicants will be assessed first and foremost on their creative abilities, coupled with profound interest in music and visual media. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2020.
