The AECEJN 2024 Mentorship Programme is now open for applications! 

Female and non-binary jazz students are invited to apply. 3 (three) mentees will be selected to take part in a 6-months 1 to 1 mentorship programme and will be paired with well-established professionals in the music industry”: Mingo Rajandi,  Sunna Gunnlaugs, and Danielle Oosterop

This Mentorship Programme is an EU-funded initiative within the AEC ARTEMIS project  that aims to serve as an introduction to the music industry for young female and non-binary jazz musicians who are beginning to approach their careers, with the help of female role models and with the ultimate goal of enhancing gender equality within the sector. The programme has been initiated by AEC – European Association of Conservatoires under the “Supporting Female Artists initiative“,  and has jointly been developed by ECSA – European Composer and Songwriter Alliance and EJN – Europe Jazz Network

Submission

Applications for the AEC-EJN 2024 Mentorship Programme must be submitted online by filling in the form below by 11:59 PM (CET) January 8, 2024.

Selection Process

Submissions will be reviewed by a pool of EJN experts and the AEC Diversity, Inclusion & Gender Equality (DIGE) Working Group. Selected applicants will be notified by mid-January 2024.

Mentorship Timeline and financial coverage

Applications: 1 December – 8 January

Online applications for mentees to take part in the AEC-EJN mentorship programme are open.

Results: mid-January 2024

The appointment of 3 (three) mentees will take place and notified to candidates via email around mid-January. 

Kick-off Meeting: Odense, Denmark, 7 February 2024 (in-person)

A Kick-off meeting in Odense, Denmark, will take place in the frame of the AEC Pop and Jazz Platform 2024. AEC-EJN mentors and mentees will receive guidelines and “goals form” as a basis for their one-on-one appointments. Travel and accommodation expenses for the kick-off meeting will be covered by the programme. Students are encouraged to stay longer and take part in the AEC Pop and Jazz Platform on 8-11 February in Odense.

Mentorship sessions: 1 March – 31st August 2024 (online)

The mentorship will run for 6 months and will consist of 3 individual online meetings, each taking place every 2 months. The sessions’ schedule will be arranged after mutual agreement between the mentor and the mentee.

Final Event: November 2024 (in-person)

The final networking and dissemination event will take place in the frame of the AEC Annual Congress 2024, taking place on 13-16 November in Milan, with a presentation of the outcomes of the two mentorship programmes by AEC, ECSA, and EJN mentors and mentees. Travel and accommodation expenses for the students who took part in the mentorship will be covered by the programme.
