Opera Out of Opera 2: Initiatives to engage the young audience are on the agenda
On 25-26 May, Opera Out of Opera 2 (OOO2) partners met in Porto, Portugal, to discuss communication, dissemination and audience engagement activities, and decide upon the final programme and schedule of the itinerant performances that will premiere in autumn 2024 in Rome, Porto, Salzburg, Oslo and Stockholm. The meeting was hosted by ESMAE – Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto, and included an update of the latest project developments, preparations for the first year progress report as well as a brainstorming session among communication project managers.
The latter was coordinated by Zofia Lalak, appointed as Community Manager of the project by the AEC. Zofia is an independent professional who will help with the implementation of the communication and dissemination activities throughout the project lifespan. She will also be in charge of the promotion of the audience engagement strategy on social media, setting up the official project profiles and creating regular content, as well as of the social storytelling campaign prior to the performances.
In this regard, the OOO2 official communication channels have been set up, and all AEC members are highly encouraged to follow them for more updates about the project:
The following operas have been chosen for the itinerant and on-demand performances, which will count with a coherent narrative and an overall concept that will be adapted according to the different creative teams provided by each project partner. Operas will be reduced to a 45-minutes length, and will premiere from October 2024 onwards:
- KHiO – Oslo National Academy of the Arts: La boème (Puccini)
- Mozarteum University Salzburg: La boème (Puccini)
- Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia di Roma: Don Giovanni (Mozart)
- Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto: Così fan tutte (Mozart)
- SKH – Stockholm University of the Arts: Nozze di Figaro (Mozart)
Furthermore, as part of the Audience Engagement Strategy, project partners will follow up on the short questionnaire shared with the young audience, in order to collect input and ideas on how to develop tailored engagement tactics, to be implemented through the project activities. As a first action, a 20-minute webinar will be delivered by Mozarteum University Salzburg for the people wanting to be actively involved in the project initiatives. More information will be shared soon.
