The sixth RNCM James Mottram International piano Competition (JMIPC) will take place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, between Monday 26 November – Saturday 1 December 2018 for talented pianists under the age of 30.

This major biennial competition has a particular focus on the works of Scarlatti, Chopin and Debussy, attracting competitors from all over the world. All participants will receive invaluable learning opportunities: those who do not progress to the next stage of the competition will be given the opportunity to take part in a public masterclass given by a jury member during their time in Manchester. Soloists in the competition final will be accompanied by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Robert Spano in the RNCM Concert Hall – which will be recorded for broadcast on Classic FM.

There is the substantial prize fund including a first prize of £10,000 and a chance to gain a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. Travel bursaries are available for shortlisted participants who live outside of Europe.

Deadline for applications: September, the 28th 2018
