It is with great dismay that we have had to learn about the recent events. We feel for the Ukrainian people and especially the students and staff of our Ukrainian members and their families. We would like to share with you a statement from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation pointing out ways to support those affected by the war. In addition, we call on all AEC member institutions to support refugees from the war zone within the realms of possibility to continue their music studies in an unbureaucratic way.
The AEC condemns the flagrant violation of international law by the Russian authorities. Our solidarity is with the Ukrainian people. To underline our position, we have frozen AEC membership of Russian and Belarusian AEC member institutions at this time, whilst acknowledging with compassion those in Russia who dare to speak out against this war.
