After six and a half years of dedicated work in the AEC office, Alfonso Guerra  will leave the AEC office at the end of this month and move back to Spain.

Alfonso had joined the AEC office in July 2019 as an intern, initially for 6 months, and was hired (even before the end of his internship!) as Membership and Finance Coordinator.

All those who have been in contact with him have appreciated the high quality of his work and how thoroughly and reliably he has been completing his large portfolio of tasks: in addition to liaising with nearly 320 member institutions worldwide and overseeing the overall financial management of the office, Alfonso has been instrumental in developing AEC’s work in the field of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): he coordinated the Diversity, Identity, Inclusiveness Working Group of the AEC – Strengthening Music in Society (AEC-SMS, 2017-2021) project, contributed to the IncluMusic (2022-2025) project and initiated the AEC DEI Panel of Experts (2025-2028) and in particular the new DEI strategy 2026-2030.

Last but not least, from 2022 to 2025, Alfonso has also coordinated the association’s flagship project, AEC – Empowering Artists as Makers in Society (ARTEMIS, 2022-2025), ensuring that all projects objectives would be achieved and enabling synergies between the various working groups.

Dear Alfonso, on behalf of the AEC Council members and the Office Team members, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your committed, high-level work, professionalism, and passion.

Your contribution has left a lasting mark on the AEC, and while we wish you every success in this new chapter, you will be greatly missed by all of us.
