On 8 November, StAMP (St Andrews Music Participation) will launch their Virtual Conservatoire, a new and permanent feature of the five-year StAMP project. The online learning environment builds on the successful format of the StAMP Brass Camp held in July which hosted participants from all over the world for seminars, ensemble rehearsals, performance classes and other events.

The Virtual Conservatoire extends StAMP and the aims and principles that underpin it to brass players of all ages and stages from anywhere in the world. The approach is inspired by the renaissance concept of conservatorio in which engagement with music was valued not only for the sake of musical development, but also for the way in which music helps us thrive.

The launch of the Virtual Conservatoire is part of Fringe of Gold, Scotland’s only non-competitive festival for wind, brass and percussion hosted annually by the University of St Andrews. The 2020 festival welcomes special guests Markus Stockhausen (trumpet) and Maximiliano Martin (clarinet).
