We are happy to announce that several new institutions have recently joined the AEC Community. Their applications were assessed by the AEC Council members representing the relevant regional groups, with support from the AEC Office. Following this process, they were approved during the last AEC Council meeting on 19-20 March.
The new members include:
Active members
- Accademia Nazionale del Jazz in Siena, Italy
- Conservatorio di Musica Antonio Buzzolla in Adria, Italy
- Université Antonine in Hadat-Baabda, Lebanon
- H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University in Kharkiv, Ukraine
Active membership in the AEC is open to any conservatoire, académie de musique, Musikhochschule, or other equivalent institution within the European Higher Education Area aiming to educate students for the music profession. These institutions deliver programmes some of which are above Level 4 of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) or its equivalent, and meet the broad description of such programmes contained in the AEC-Tuning Handbook: ‘Reference Points for the Design and Delivery of Degree Programmes in Music’.
Associate members
- Manhattan School of Music in New York City, United States
- Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen, China
Associate membership is dedicated to institutions, both within and outside Europe, which either provide the same level of education as stated for Active members above OR are active in, or have connection to wider aspects of training for the music profession.
On Friday, 25 April an introductory meeting for all new members was held with representatives of the AEC Office. This session served as an opportunity to warmly welcome the new members into the association and to introduce them to the AEC’s daily activities. Furthermore, it provided valuable insights into how they can contribute to the AEC Community and, in turn, benefit from the collective expertise, resources, and opportunities available through their membership.
We are proud to see the AEC network expand and look forward to fruitful collaboration with all of them.
