On 25 October, the opera world celebrates World Opera Day 2026 under the theme #OperaConnects, highlighting opera’s power to bring people together and build bridges across borders, languages and cultures.

For conservatoires and higher music education institutions, these connections are part of everyday life: international students and teachers, exchanges and mobility programmes, collaborative productions, masterclasses and artistic careers that increasingly span countries and continents. World Opera Day offers an opportunity to showcase these connections and the role of opera in creating dialogue between different communities and artistic traditions.

We invite you and your students to take part by sharing your cross-border journeys and collaborations, opening your doors for a rehearsal or masterclass, or partnering with a local opera company or cultural organisation. Institutions can also use the occasion to highlight the people, projects and partnerships that demonstrate how opera connects their communities internationally and locally.
