Meet the AEC / YMTE Joint Working Group
The AEC/YMTE Joint Working Group was established to promote early musical talent and strengthen the relationship between Pre-College Music Education and Higher Music Education (HME). As part of the ARTEMIS project (2022-2025), the group developed guidelines to enhance institutional collaboration, improve access to music education, promoting equal opportunities for all. These guidelines aim to align the efforts of Pre-College institutions and HMEIs, integrate digital strategies, and promote a cohesive framework for advancing music education across Europe.
Under the current Creative Europe Network project, the AEC / YMTE WG will participate in Work Package 3. The main objective of this WP is to strengthen and widen participation in active music making and creating.
The purpose of the work package is also to develop models to make music education more accessible, to reduce barriers between levels of formal, non-formal and informal music learning settings and to develop new models of including diverse and underrepresented groups in musical activities, promoting health and wellbeing.
The AEC / YMTE Working Group will:
- build upon previous efforts to further analyse and understand the existing gaps between pre-college and HME. This may involve gathering additional data, conducting interviews, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders (e.g., educators, students, institutions).
- based on the deepened understanding of the identified gaps, formulate actionable recommendations aiming to bridge the gaps and foster a smoother transition between pre-college and HME ultimately supporting the development of new musical talents.
