MUSIC4D: Music, entrepreneUrshIp, Creativity, For the Digital revolution
MUSIC4D is a project led by the Conservatorio di Musica Alessandro Scarlatti in Palermo, Italy, funded by the PNRR ITALIA (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) which is part of the Next Generation EU (NGEU) programme, through the call “Directorial Decree no. 124 of 19-07-2023” called: M4C1 – Investimento 3.4 “Didattica e competenze universitarie avanzate”, sub-investimento “Partenariati strategici/iniziative per innovare la dimensione internazionale del sistema AFAM.
Indeed, the project is part of the wider strategy to modernise and internationalise the AFAM (Alta Formazione Artistica, Musicale e Coreutica) system by integrating digital technologies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and new pedagogical approaches into music education and research. Its aims include:
- strengthening international dialogue,
- enhancing digital competencies, and
- developing new models for artistic and academic engagement in the 21st century.
These elements converge in a shared ambition: to reimagine music education and creation in the digital age. On the one hand, the development of digital infrastructures and curricula equips institutions, staff, and students with the tools to adapt to evolving professional and technological landscapes. On the other hand, the use of immersive and intelligent technologies fosters new artistic languages and practices, opening up possibilities for experimentation, accessibility, and inclusion.
Above all, MUSIC4D empowers a new generation of musicians to become cultural actors in a connected and sustainable world.
