Artistic research (AR) has now become an established part of the European landscape of higher music education. However, this development has so far been insufficiently reflected in the curricula of most music study programmes. The ARE initiative (the acronym standing for Artistic Research Education), which emerged from the two Erasmus+ projects RAPP Lab and REACT, has played a significant role in bringing about a gradual change in this trend.
