Representing the AEC and its diverse membership is a core responsibility of the AEC Office, carried out with expertise and dedication. Advocacy remains a cornerstone of the AEC’s recently adopted strategy, highlighting its vital role in supporting higher music education and advancing the broader music ecosystem.
The objective of these activities is clear: to address critical themes shaping the future of higher music education and the music sector at large. To achieve this, we engage in advocacy through direct and indirect collaboration with policymakers and officials, while fostering alliances and networks across cultural and creative organizations. Through newsletters and social media, we keep members and stakeholders informed, fostering a shared understanding of our position in the European cultural and creative sector and the priorities driving our agenda.
The conclusion of the flagship project ARTEMIS provided an opportunity to reflect on three years of advocacy efforts. We have compiled a thematic overview showcasing the scope and impact of AEC’s activities, including official statements, participation in EU programs relevant to music, and contributions to European Commission consultations. While this overview captures the breadth of our formal efforts, it does not encompass the countless informal meetings and collaborations regularly undertaken with partner organizations and EU officials.
