Opera Out of Opera 2 (OOO2), co-funded by the European Union, is looking for artistic works to create immersive rooms – artistic installations in the frame of the opera performances. These will function as captivating spaces that will guide the audience through the different themes addressed in the opera plots, enhancing their experience as active participants prior to the live performances, and bringing them closer to the world of opera.

The call is open to artists of all ages wanting to share their ideas and actively participate in bringing this immersive spaces to life through different artistic expressions, including -but not limited to- photos, videos, paintings, costume design, set design, sculptures, 3D models, immersive audio, digital art, that delve into the following themes:

La Bohème (G. Puccini)

  • Conflict and compromise
  • Poverty and creativity
  • Loss and nostalgia
  • Friendship and solidarity
  • Isolation and loneliness
Le nozze di Figaro (W. A. Mozart)

  • Social inequalities
  • Women’s emancipation and independence
  • Resistance to traditions
  • Condemnation of hypocrisy and lies
  • Sexual harassment
Don Giovanni (W. A. Mozart)

  • Male-female power relations
  • Jealousy and conflicts
  • Actions and their consequences
  • Death and immortality
  • Moral dilemmas
Così fan tutte (W. A. Mozart)

  • Testing relationships
  • Gender stereotypes
  • Intrigues and betrayal
  • Freedom of choice and responsibility
  • Masquerade and identity games

 

Selected works will be showcased at the immersive rooms – artistic installations that will be set in place prior to the live performances in different European countries. Artists and their works will also be widely disseminated through the OOO2 smartphone app, on the project website and on all official social media channels. The installations will welcome international stakeholders and local audiences at the following performances, starting off in October 2024:

*One more date will be added in the agenda for 2025 for the live performance of the opera Le nozze di Figaro (location in Europe tbc).
