The meeting brought together the AEC Council, including its co-opted members and representatives of the European Performing Arts Students’ Association (EPASA).

Over the course of two days, Council members engaged in insightful discussions on the current state and future of higher music education in Europe and beyond. The agenda was packed with key topics, including AEC’s advocacy efforts and communication, the outcomes of the ARTEMIS project, and updates on the recently approved Creative Europe Grant which will cover AEC activities in the next 4 years.

The discussions also covered the 2025 budget, and new membership applications from institutions worldwide were reviewed and approved. Moreover, the Council discussed AEC’s current events: the Pop & Jazz Platform (PJP), the European Platform for Artistic Research (EPARM), the International Relations Coordinators Meeting and the AEC Congress, as well as possible format and content developments for the future.

A key part of the meeting on the first day was dedicated to an Advocacy workshop and following group discussion, where Council members identified the organisation’s advocacy priorities. The Communication workshop on the second day, examined concrete scenarios and provided hands-on tips on internal and external communication tools to develop advocacy campaigns.

The meeting in Salzburg also served as preparation for the 2025 Congress and General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Salzburg on 5-8 November 2025. Consequently, the Council meeting was followed by a Congress Committee meeting to address thematic and organisational matters for the upcoming event.

The AEC Council extends its sincere gratitude to the Mozarteum University Salzburg and its team for their warm hospitality and outstanding organisation of the meeting.
