In diesem Handbuch geht es in erster Linie um „Assessment“ in der Musikhochschulausbildung. Das Handbuch unternimmt den Versuch, Prüfungs- und Beurteilungsverfahren in den Kontext der aktuellen Entwicklungen der Hochschulbildung zu stellen, insbesondere jene, die mit dem Bologna-Prozess zusammenhängen. Darüber hinaus beschäftigt es sich auch mit dem Thema Zulassungsverfahren, insoweit die Prüfung der musikalischen Leistung eines Bewerbers vor Beginn der Hochschulausbildung und seines Potentials, unter den Bedingungen der Hochschulbildung weitere Fortschritte zu erzielen, den Kernpunkt von Zulassungsverfahren bildet.

AEC Handbook Admissions and Assessment in Higher Music Education

This handbook is primarily about the issue of assessment in Higher Music Education. It attempts to set assessment within the context of contemporary developments in higher education, especially those relating to the Bologna Process. However, it also addresses the question of admissions insofar as making an assessment of an applicant’s musical achievement prior to entering higher education, and of their potential to progress still further in a higher education environment, lies at the heart of admissions processes.

The Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) has developed a framework for reviews of European higher music education institutions and programmes in music. .This handbook contains all the necessary information and descriptions of procedures with respect to this process and outlines an indicative time schedule for it (from the point where an institution applies for a visit until the production of the final report). It also provides a programme template for the visit itself.
