PJP Working Group
Context
The Pop and Jazz Platform (PJP) is an annual meeting organised by the AEC, which aims to promote and support higher education in popular music and jazz by addressing educational, pedagogical, musical, and professional issues related to genre diversity.
A dedicated Working Group (PJP Working Group) was established not only to be in charge of organizing the annual meeting, but also to address a specific gap within the AEC, providing a dedicated space for Higher Music Education Institutions with pop and jazz departments that were previously underserved.
Work plan
The WG aims to develop a unique cross-genre platform, designed to foster networking and the sharing of best practices among managers, teachers, and students. By facilitating student and teacher exchanges and establishing new projects like Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), the group helps institutions benchmark their curricula and strengthen connections to the professional working life.
Collaborations within the AEC ecosystem
The group actively collaborates across the AEC, sharing knowledge with the Education & Profession and the Traditional, Folk and Global Music working groups. They also contribute to AEC Annual Congresses and engage with initiatives related to Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
