Special Education Needs (SEN) Working Group
Context
An increasing number of students and artists with Special Education Needs (SEN) is entering Higher Music Education Institutions (HMEIs), requiring the development of more inclusive educational and artistic environments.
Work plan
The Special Education Needs (SEN) Working Group will respond to these emerging needs by:
- Strengthening professional competences: the Working Group supports the development of inclusive skills among teachers and cultural professionals in HME institutions.
- Bridging the gap between legislation and practice: although European policies promote inclusion, there is still a need to translate these guidelines into concrete institutional practices.
- Developing and sharing good practices of inclusion: the creation of an international network of institutions committed to inclusion helps strengthen the impact of initiatives and improve the quality of educational practices.
The group builds on the results of the IncluMusic project (particularly the content developed in Module 3 – Legal foundations of Inclusive Education) promoting research, sharing good practices, and creating a network of institutions committed to inclusion.
Collaborations within the AEC ecosystem
Collaborations with various AEC Working Groups will be explored, in particular with the DEI Panel of Experts, by co-organising workshops focusing on the intersection of diversity, gender equality, and physical/cognitive accessibility.
