Representatives of all member institutions meet every year at the AEC Annual Congress and General Assembly to discuss specific themes, to exchange information and to broaden their professional and personal networks.
In 2013 the AEC Congress will take place in Palermo, Italy, on 7-9 November 2013 and will be hosted by the Conservatorio di Musica “Vincenzo Bellini”.
Celebrating the AEC at 60:
Assessing the Past and Imagining the Future
We are delighted to invite you to join us in celebrating our 60th anniversary at the AEC 40th annual Congress, which will be hosted from November 7th – 9th 2013 by the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatoire in Palermo, Italy.
Over the years, the AEC has become an articulate and sought-out advocate for the music sector: its working groups are cited as models by the European Commission, and area-specific platforms have provided opportunities to engage in on-going dialogue amongst peers. As the leading network for higher music education, it is also an invaluable resource: through its many activities and publications, the AEC has consistently sought both to reflect upon current practice and to “imagine the future” in a broad intercultural context.
As we look to the decades ahead, we believe it is appropriate to take stock, measure our accomplishments, evaluate the challenges that lie ahead, and explore new directions and ways in which the AEC can continue – as it always has done – to provide support and advocacy as imaginatively and strongly as possible for the community of conservatoires it represents.
Come and join in these anniversary discussions and debates, thereby ensuring a vibrant AEC and a long and healthy life to European culture and higher education in music. If your institution would like to send a representative but is concerned about costs, please consider applying for one of the Johannes Johansson Travel Bursaries. Details of these can be found under the Documents and Images tab above.
